My name is Michelle, a newer addition to the Collingwood area. I grew up in Newmarket, but spent most of my time on many adventures camping and canoeing with family. I am an outdoor enthusiast looking to experience nature in any way I can, usually while rock climbing (something I’ve been doing for almost a decade now), but also being open to any adventure that I can find.
Eventually, adventures had led me to Thunder Bay where I completed my Honours Bachelor of Outdoor Recreation at Lakehead University. The unique experiences I gained from my time in Thunder Bay led me to comprise an objective for myself: to facilitate meaningful experiences in the natural world, experiences free from the pressures of societal norms, instilling a deeper meaning in a person creating a lasting impression and connection to place.
I was lucky enough to meet the wonderful folk from the Free Spirit Forest & Nature School by first working with the Free Spirit Tours summer camp. I absolutely fell in love with the community and the joys of working with the children outdoors in the Collingwood area. When I was gifted the opportunity to become a teacher with Free Spirit Forest & Nature School I was so incredibly happy to accept.
